About Me

My name is Iliyan and I’m a photographer based in Sofia, Bulgaria. My journey into photography started casually—I would take my father’s camera wherever I went, capturing moments that simply felt neat at the time. What began as curiosity turned into something deeper: a way to observe, interpret, and preserve the fleeting.

I specialize in portrait and street photography, both of which allow me to explore the human experience. Photography, as an artistic medium, fascinates me because it suspends time—freezing moments that would otherwise vanish. But what makes an image meaningful is not just the moment itself, but how we perceive it. Each of us notices different details, different emotions. As a photographer, I aim to capture what stands out to me—the gestures, expressions, and fleeting interactions that reveal something deeply human.

Beyond photography, I find inspiration in film, music, and literature. Films, in particular, influence the way I see light, composition, and storytelling. I’m always drawn to the way cinematography shapes emotion, and I often carry that mindset into my work. Music and reading, too, help refine my perspective, making me more attuned to rhythm, atmosphere, and narrative—all essential to visual storytelling.
